Is there gonna be a love interest? I literally have no clue。 I feel like he could eventually get with L but I don’t think it’s that type of manga truthfully。 Did the ending make me what to read the next ones? Yep。It’s one of those fics that really surprised me on how far they went with the murdering ( I am very glad they went full psycho with Light) 。。。more

Death Note is just an amazing story and I am so happy I got this volume。 The artstyle is beautiful and this edition even has some coloured pages at the start of the book。 I love the idea of a crime series following the bad guy instead of the good ones as it gives the story originality。 Death Note manages to include otherworldly beings, magical notebooks, massmurder, a weird but adorible detective and ethical questions of what is truly right or wrong into this genius piece of work。 Although I am Death Note is just an amazing story and I am so happy I got this volume。 The artstyle is beautiful and this edition even has some coloured pages at the start of the book。 I love the idea of a crime series following the bad guy instead of the good ones as it gives the story originality。 Death Note manages to include otherworldly beings, magical notebooks, massmurder, a weird but adorible detective and ethical questions of what is truly right or wrong into this genius piece of work。 Although I am one of those people who likes the anime more than the manga I can still see that these volumes are pure gold。 I can't say that i have any regrettes buying or reading this book and I don't think that I ever will。 The characters are amazing, the artstyle is adorible, the dialog and story line is made by a genius。 If you love the anime and haven't read the manga then I highly recommend buying this book。 The black edition in particular is really pretty and even has some extra stuff in it。 I'm not sure if this is true or not but I also read somewhere that this edition has a better translation- BUT I wouldn't now for sure so please don't take my word on it! 。。。more

God - I love Death Note。 Light is far creepier than Ryuk。 That kid is disturbing。 It's fascinating to watch L and Light try to outmatch each other。 I love the black pages and the art style。 God - I love Death Note。 Light is far creepier than Ryuk。 That kid is disturbing。 It's fascinating to watch L and Light try to outmatch each other。 I love the black pages and the art style。 。。。more

This was so fun! I haven't ever read manga before, and as my first venture into it I really loved it。 I watched some of the anime a long time ago and so didn't really remember much, which was really helpful when reading this because otherwise I would've definitely not appreciated the manga as much as I did。 I love L, and I find his character so mysterious, and I love Light's descent into thinking what he's doing is good for humanity in the world to being at a place where he is abusing his power。 This was so fun! RATING: 5 starsThis story is SO good omg, even the second time around。 I've seen the first 18-ish episodes of the anime and have been meaning to finish it for ages but the manga is just as good! (I mean, it's the exact same story so obviously lol)The concept itself is really interesting, and I love how you keep learning about new rules and how the Death Note works as the story goes on。 It literally never gets boring。 Also I wish more manga had editions like this because getting two volumes at once is way better than getting just one lol- it doesn't break the flow of the story as much。 I actually really like Light as a character but I wish he was a little bit more interesting。 No wonder the synopsis says he gets obsessed with the Death Note so quickly because he's bored out of his mind lol。 All the guy does is study, eat, and sleep。 Also I think having Ryuk around adds a lot to the story lol, he's oddly chill for a death god and just hangs around making jokes and asking for apples。 Him being neutral is a good thing I think because it means he's not too scary (or else this might have been horror and not。。。 mystery? Thriller? what is this classified as?)My one problem with it would be that it's a bit easier to follow what's going on in the anime。。。 a lot of the story is centered around how Light and L are trying to outsmart each other and that means there's a lot of internal thoughts and monologues and stuff as they think things through and I think that's easier to process (because it's essentially info-dumping) when someone is saying it onscreen rather than reading it and trying to concentrate, ig。 Luckily I've already seen the anime so I had no problem with that lol。Anyway, I'm really excited to keep going! I've been spoiled for some big stuff in the series but hopefully it'll still be interesting to see how those things actually happen lol 。。。more

*3。5 Stars*TW: Death, murder, suicide This manga has a lot going for it。 The artwork is well drawn, gritty, and stark, and the plotline keeps a fast pace while continually making you question your own moral compass。 Why do bad people get to live when good people die? Who decides who is good and who is bad? What would you do if you were given the power to kill indiscriminately, and what is your own life worth in the grand scheme of things? Overall, I feel like I have read better, but also, this is only the first two manga, and I am interested in seeing how this develops。 It is a very dark read (especially in the black edition!), and not something I could read constantly without coming up for air from time to time, but it is beautifully rendered and a solid choice for thriller/horror fans。 Reader's Advisory note** Good for fans of Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol。 1 or Tokyo Ghoul, Tome 1。 I would recommend this to upper high school readers due to the dark content and deeper moral questions。 。。。more

I decided to read the manga version of Death Note after watching the anime adaptation and I'm glad to have read the story in its original form! I really enjoyed the story and the "intellectual battles" between Light and L which led to a thrilling story that was always leaving me to desire more。 Fun, introductory manga for those just getting into the genre! Very good。 Would probably be even more enjoyable if I didn't already know how it ends; some of the tension isn't there which would be for a first time reader, but it's still great! A couple of iffy bits here and there bump it down to 4 stars for me, though。 Very good。 Would probably be even more enjoyable if I didn't already know how it ends; some of the tension isn't there which would be for a first time reader, but it's still great! 3。5 stars :) I enjoyed this! I was super invested in the beginning but I become less interested towards the middle for awhile。 It took me too long to read this because a lot of the time I was excited to pick this one up。 I loved the discussions of good vs。 evil and the whole premise of this manga is interesting to me。 I'll definitely continue on with the series but I might just take a break before starting the next volume。 3。5 stars :) I enjoyed this!
